If you’ve ever found yourself battling those stubborn dry patches, the kind that laugh in the face of ordinary lotions — then you’ll know exactly where I’m coming from. I’ve been on the hunt for something that could truly handle skin that’s as parched, especially on those tricky areas like arms and legs that just seem to drink up moisture and still ask for more.
Recently, after hearing the buzz everywhere about the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, I figured it was high time to see if it lived up to the hype. I went in with a mix of hope and a little skepticism, because we’ve all been let down by a so-called miracle cream before. So let’s talk about how it worked for me or didn’t.
Brazilian Bum Bum Cream Review
Brazilian Bum Bum Cream comes in a few different sizes: there’s a 240 ml jar, a 150 ml option, and a more petite 75 ml version. Personally, I decided to pick up the 75 ml one first.
I was curious not just about the hydration, but also the firming claims, especially because of the caffeine-rich guaraná.
The caffeine can even help reduce the look of cellulite in areas like the legs because it temporarily dehydrates fat cells and boosts circulation — which makes sense why this cream promises a lifted feel.
But honestly, I’m usually more of a retinol fan for tightening. The caffeine in this cream may help with cellulite, but it doesn’t do as much for actual skin lifting or firming, if that makes sense.
One thing people always talk about with Sol de Janeiro is the scent. I’ve used their SPF body spray before and loved how it smelled, so having that same fragrance in a cream felt like a nice bonus.
How to Apply Bum Bum Cream
I apply it after taking a shower, when the skin is slightly damp. I scoop a generous amount of the cream into my hands and rub them together to create warmth. Then I massage the cream into my skin using a clockwise circular motion.
The warmth actually promotes better circulation, and absorption feels better this way. I apply it on my inner thighs, arms, legs, and even on my tummy.
How Does It Work?
The cream leans heavily on Cupuaçu butter and oils to lock in moisture but that only works if there’s moisture there to begin with. That was my main question going in.
The formula is water-based and does contain glycerin and sodium hyaluronate, which are responsible for actually pulling moisture into the skin. The butters then do what they’re meant to do: seal everything in and smooth things out.
If you use it on completely dry skin, it feels nice and looks good, but the hydration really shows up when there’s already some moisture for it to hold onto.
My Experience
I’ve been devoted to this yellow jar of sunshine for almost a month now, and I’m seeing results that are quite impressive. As a skincare junkie, I’m consistent with my routine, and I apply this cream religiously, twice a day.
In just four weeks, the silkiness it’s given my skin is hard to ignore. This isn’t an instant fix, though — but if you commit to a daily circular massage routine, you really do see a difference in how dull areas feel and look smoother.
The fragrance itself is reason enough to apply it. I like to apply my usual perfume and then dab a little Bum Bum Cream on top. It works really well with a few of my scents. it doesn’t mess with them, it just makes them smell creamier and more buttery, if that makes sense.
Skin lifting claim
I wouldn’t vouch for its skin-firming benefits just yet, since I haven’t been using it long enough to say. But it does make my skin feel noticeably more supple, and I’ve definitely noticed a smoother appearance in areas like my legs, which makes sense given the caffeine content.
It’s also worth noting that the shimmer is very subtle. It’s not glittery or overwhelming, just a soft gold sheen that catches the light and gives your limbs a slight glow. I genuinely don’t know of any other intensely hydrating body cream that delivers this kind of finish.
Seriously, if you do, please drop me a line in the comments below. A girl needs to know her shimmering options.
Comparing Bum Bum Cream to Other Dupe
If you’re looking for a dupe, MCoBeauty Body Cream is often mentioned as a close alternative to Sol de Janeiro. That said, I’m personally not big on dupes, mainly because the ingredient quality and overall experience usually differ.
While the packaging of MCoBeauty Body Cream might give you that Bum Bum style satisfaction, it’s not quite the same once you actually use it. The scent is noticeably different from the signature Cheirosa fragrance, and the texture feels lighter and less buttery compared to the original.
It does moisturize the skin reasonably well, but if you’re after the full Sol de Janeiro experience, this doesn’t quite deliver. For that reason, I wouldn’t consider it a true alternative.
